Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) provides up-to-date vehicle location information for your fleet anywhere in the continental United States. The AVL system consists of two parts: The first part resides on the vehicle and has a GPS (Global Positioning System) Antenna or Receiver. The second part resides at the base station or Central, and receives the location information from the vehicle, through a communications link.
The figure above explains how an AVL System works. GPS Satellites track a vehicle as it travels. The GPS Receiver on board a vehicle receives the information from the satellites, and transmits this information to a central computer. This information can then be utilized at Central or on any computer with a web browser to view the status of a fleet.
The AVL System is an all encompassing solution: software, maps and hardware ready to track your vehicles. It is low cost, simple to buy, install and use.
