Autonomous Transportation (AT) is a computerized, fully automated demand-responsive transportation system that provides door-to-door services to riders who are not served by, or do not have access to fixed-route transportation services.
AT challenges America’s reliance on the automobile as their primary mode of travel. This new generation of demand response service effectively utilizes currently available technologies to reduce costs and improve service reliability. AT is a paradigm shift for the transit industry and promises to have a ripple effect on other centralized and dispatch-driven services.

Here are some of the unique features of AT
- Same-Day Service - AT guarantees same-day service to its customers up to two hours in advance of the scheduled trip.
- Dynamic Demand - AT is adaptable and flexible to demand. The size of the vehicle fleet can be increased or decreased based on market needs.
- Improved Productivity - AT's automated routing and scheduling dynamically optimizes vehicle schedules and travel patterns.
- Security - Security is enhanced because all customers are pre-registered, and AT knows the location of every vehicle in its fleet. Emergency messages can be sent to and from the vehicles with a touch of a button.
- Reliability - Customers are called 5 minutes in advance to notify them that a vehicle is arriving. Customers are guaranteed a trip.
- Efficiency - AT's on-vehicle routing software provides the driver an online map with directives on routes and passenger trip information, and estimated time of arrival at the next stop.
- Cashless System - All AT trips are prepaid. Credit cards, debit cards and cash can be used to credit a customers travel account.
- Technology Use - AT effectively uses a number of currently available technologies: Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), automated routing and scheduling, geo-spatial technologies, wireless communications, vehicle navigation, and e-card technologies.
- Improves system efficiency and productivity
- Cuts down trip request time from 24 hours to 2 hours
- Security inbuilt in system by design
- Eliminates cash-based fare collection
- Reduced man-power for demand-response service
- Portable to other communities.
